Free the Chimps
So there is an investigation now into the New Iberia Research Center in Lafayette, Louisiana, the largest primate research center in the US. Just finding out that I live within hours of this place makes my stomach knot up. You can watch the horrible video here. It is almost too terrible to even blog about, it disgusts me so much. I love and respect our animal friends.
While this scandal unfolds, I read something that really disturbed me, and it has to do with our governor here, Bobby Jindal.
There are beings there being experimented on that are older than myself. It is so sad and unbelievable. They need to free these primates and stop abusing them. They are like senior citizen chimps and its just not right. These animals are intelligent and deserve a sanctuary in their last golden days. It must be done!

...no immediate response to a request from the Humane Society that Jindal free Karen, a chimp housed in a "primarily barren laboratory setting since 1958, when Dwight Eisenhower was president. Karen and other aging primates should live out their remaining days in a sanctuary," the society said.
